This is an exciting book which I enjoyed. I loved Richard and felt sorry for him. Mimi was torn between two men, but at times she was wishy washy at times. At times i wanted to shake her to get her attention. Her mother was a spoiled brat, acting like a child, and was more interested in what her daughter's marriage could do for her, never mind her daughter"s happiness. However she does grow up, but that is all I will say on that. You need to read this book. While I received a copy from the author, this is my true and honest opinion.
OMG! Talk about riding reckless. If you like living on the edge with a plethora of events, emotions and intense chemistry, congrats my friends you've found it. Twisted, twinned and put through the wringer as you watch totally frozen to your seat, holding your breath waiting for the other shoe to drop. Drop it did. One action packed, hard hitting, fast paced, heart pounding, pulse racing, page turning dynamo that demands your undivided attention and you follow willingly. All the drama, uncertainty and suspense builds as tension spirals bringing this bad boy roaring to life beautifully. Twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few hitches, bumps and bruises that rock this read with every word. Following the characters along witnessing their personalities transform and blend. The characters were so realistic, intriguing and complex with a undeniable connection between the two main characters. Talk about off the charts chemistry so intense it's palpable. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive it gives the illusion you were right there in ground zero with them. Remarkable job Bridget, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
The Lost Love of a Stunning Lady by Bridget Barton is an ultra clean Regency second-chance romance.When Richard Warren and Mimi Hancock met while in their teens, it was love at first sight. As the years passed it became evident that they wanted to marry, but Mimi's self-centered Mama wanted a different life for her daughter. Again, more years pass and Mimi is still bowing to her annoying mother and denying her own wants and needs. Now more time has passed, and more obstacles jump in the way. Well you get the idea.As much as I like second-chance love stories, I was less than enamored with this one because I really dislike weak heroines who won't or can't stand up for themselves. Worse yet, when they do, they end up apologizing to the very one oppressing them. Really, what's up with that? I did like the hero, but his heroine just didn't do it for me. Now, obviously, since this is a stand-alone Regency romance, there is going to be a happy ending. In fact, there is even an extended epilogue. All of which help lift my overall view of this book. Still, I was just glad to be finished with it.
Bridget Barton delivers again with her latest clean and sweet romance.Mimi and Richard have cared for each other since they first met as children. Adulthood brings about attraction and romance. Adulthood also brings about Mimi’s mother’s dictate that she order someone titled, the Duke of Hertford would do more than nicely. Then, it brings about a series of events that could make or break future happinesses for everyone involved. Life is about decisions, and finding whatever wondrous things you can. Who will Mimi choose? What does the future hold?This book gets slow in parts, but stick with it. You’ll love it. Yeah, you’re going to want to shake Mimi several times. And you’ll have zero use for her mother, that woman is a social climbing snob with little regard for the lives she is messing with. You get a peek into so many things, however. Like post-war Richard, and his tender heart. Go ahead and pick this one up, you won’t be sorry, especially if you’re a fan of Bridget Barton’s previous works.
I do love Bridget Barton's books. This one had a lot of twists and turns and I was beginning to wonder if Richard and Mimi were ever going to get together. I like that they were able to leave for the America's and I know in my heart that slavery was the thing back then. But I wish it had been to a different place that didn't have slaves. I am glad that Richard freed his in the book but I know that it was just not done back then. This was a long book and I enjoyed it very much. I do not like that I have to download the extended epilogues. I have not been able to get them on my kindle and have had to get my laptop out. Not very convenient to do. That is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. I know that it can be put with the original book as other writers have made that change. I hope you do as well.

Then when Mimi's life is turned upside down by events her mother becomes insistant that she marry a true gentleman--focusing on the young duke. The duke is handsome, charming, but controlling and may not even want her or to marry. But must an obedient girl obey her mother in raising up the family's status in the community and ensuring a life without deprivation of any kind? Richard is crushed--drama--drama--will he return--can they make it right between them or has too much time passed. Tension continues until---HEA (let's hope--oh, I do know). No cliff hanger and nice story that keep me quite engaged.
