Gary Paul Green is a professor in the Department of Community & Environmental Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a community development specialist in the Center for Community & Economic Development at the University of Wisconsin-Extension. Green’s teaching and research interests are primarily in the areas of community and economic development. This is a required text book for an Eastern Kentucky University Master's program.The print is very small, but the information is easy to consume and process. This is a text book that is actually being enjoyed during the learning process. I would have liked a bit larger text, though. After several hours of reading, the small text can be very eye strenuous.Other than that, this book is being enjoyed during the class.
This book is presents an asset-based approach to community development and the organizing principle is the various forms of capital, i.e. social, political, financial, human, etc. I would have given the text five stars if there had been some space devoted to some of the theoretical aspects of community development- something to provide a framework for evaluating the application of the various forms of capital.
It was right on time before my class started and the book was bran new! Loved it!!!
This book is a ver good historical base in how community development and asset planning has helped many communities and cities around the country. I am enjoying it for class.
