Save your money. The book states that it is "A comprehensive guide to the exciting world of Acrylics," but instead it is 95% a guide and product endorsement of Golden Artist Colors Acrylic products only and most of this information is available at Golden Artist Colors, INC. This publication should be freely distributed by Golden to promote its products.Patti Mollica [...] is a fine painter and I was hoping to see more of her approach to painting in acrylics. Maybe 5% of this book is about technique or applications of paint in a painting. This might be a starter book for someone who knows absolutely nothing about acrylic paint. Although, there are many better publications available.With a little searching, Golden Artist Colors, INC. and Patti Mollica's blog: [...]. provide as good or better information for free.
Mostly an advertisement for the use of Acrylics. Not as many demonstrations as I would like to see.
This book is an excellent introduction to acrylic painting and introduction to all the gels, pastes, and mediums currently available. It does focus on Golden products, but these are highly respected by artists, and are considered the best there is, so I see no problem with that. But the book is very well written, and its presentation of techniques and materials is done with care and thought.
Information is too basic. small book with nice pictures.
I have read some of the other reviews and agree that it is basically a promotion for Golden products. But, I keep the book by my pallet and refer to it often. She did a great job explaining how to do things and the differences between certain products.
Love the book
Love her technique and this book got me back to painting, one painting a day... hard but that's the only way I learn.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book - it has great coverage of acrylic's potential.
